Hello, I have a two-year-old Staffordshire mix that weighs 44 lb (20 kg). She is moderately active and currently doing intensive behavioural training. We have her on a daily 1,070 calorie diet (as recommended by another vet) and feel as though she's slightly underweight. Can you please advise as to what her daily intake should be and guidance for increasing it? Thanks! David
I have been wondering this for a while now. But I recently (Dec 5 2018) adopted a lovely 1 year old male cat who I was told weighted 10lbs when i got him. Now they did tell me his food (hill science diet adult 1-6) but not how much he was eating. So I followed the guidelines on the bag which said 1/2 cup for a 10lbs cat. He always goes crazy at meal time so I'm worried am I underfeeding him? Also he looks like he's lost weight but I also don't have a scale to weight him and brushed recently
Our cat has been on Hills r/d for 2 years and has lost 2 pounds. Is that healthy to be for that long?
12yr old cat dropping weight from 11 lbs to 8 lbs in past 4 yrs. had anal glands cleaned out week ago. Still pulling fur out hind area and tail
(Has pictures to aid you in giving a response) My 8 month old female ragdoll cat, Josephine, is 10 pounds now. Is she overweight? My family is concerned, but I know that ragdolls are supposed to be a bit bigger than the average cat. But I still am not sure, so could you please tell me whether she is overweight or not?
Lucy has a cruciate ligament injury on her right back leg. She has muscle atrophy as well. It was diagnosed a month ago. She has metacam if she seem to be more uncomfortable. Her weight was 96.8 lbs a month ago and today she was 96.2 lbs. Her vet said to cut her food down from 3 cups of dry food to 2 cups a day. She doesn't really get exercise due to her leg. What is a normal or safe amount of weight to lose in a month
I am trying to help a 13-year-old cat put on weight. He has never liked wet food but I remember helping an older cat with health problems to get some calories by feeding A/D wet food. Is there a similar super palatable food that is not vet prescribed that I might try? My cat's health is good. Recent blood work by my vet showed not problems at all. Thanks.
I have noticed within a month/month 1/2 that Jayden has lost weight. No food/treat changes. I brought her Mom, Lil Stinker home in Feb 2018. They are adjusting well. Jayden has a thick coat and I try to brush her everyday. She has had some matting, which I cut off and con't to brush often. I'm just concerned about her weight loss. She used to be very healthy! I'm not sure if she was upset about Mom being here or if it's normal as she gets older. She had lose stool 5/29. And none today.
Our cat, Sassy is taller and bigger than most domestic and stray cats in our country but I am worried that she is too skinny and most of the time her ribs are visible. She was already dewormed and we feed her wet and dry food yet she is not gaining any weight at all even when she eats a lot and more than 4 times a day. What should we do?
Sorry I forgot to ask, Regarding kovu having decreased appetite and losing weight, how much should a 1 year old cat eat? He used to eat 5 or more ounces wet food and 1/2 cup dry food a day. With his decreased appetite he eats no Dry food and anywhere from no wet food, to 1 and 1/2 ounces twice a day. The most he’s eaten since he’s been losing weight was yesterday and he ate 2 1/2 ounces wet food twice
Lioh weighs 9.2 lbs and has been prescribed nexgard 4-10lbs (6 packets or 6 months worth). I know he will be gaining weight over the next 6 months and therefore donno know if I should get him 3 packs instead of 6. What would you advice?
My staff 18/19kg at 30g chocolate bar over 30 hours again and has had 1 loose bowl movement just now. Solid this morning and eating and drinking normally. Should I just monitor ?
