[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My girls loved this food and especially with them getting older I want to make sure they’re eating the best they can. I’m not sure how effective it is because we were only gifted the smaller bag but I generally don’t overfeed my dogs.

They've always enjoyed the flavor, I think, and even our small puppy we just got enjoys it as well. Our big dogs had a small weight problem, nothing major, and since they've been on this diet, they've lost and maintained right where they should be. It's very affordable as well so it's great!

My dog needed to shed a few pounds, and this formula, with its lower fat content, seems to be helping. He still has good energy levels, and his coat looks healthy. One thing I like is that real chicken is the main ingredient, so I feel like he’s getting quality protein. However, I did notice that it contains corn and chicken by-product meal, which I usually try to avoid. Luckily, it hasn’t caused any digestive issues for my dog, and he actually enjoys the taste. If you’re looking for an affordable weight-management dog food, this is a solid option. But if you’re particular about avoiding grains or by-products, you might want to explore other brands.

My dog currently eats one of the foods named in the FDA study. Does this food cover the nutritional needs or retrievers and does it contain any of the ingredients sited in the study?

    I believe it covers all the nutritional needs. I have a 100lb Boxer, a 60 lb English Bulldog and a 60lb Bassett. They all do great on this food and it keeps their weight down. I'm sorry, I don't know anything about the foods in the FDA study.
