Don't Love The New Kibble Size

tennessee10

We have purchased this for the past year and it seems to have changed recently. The size is much smaller, pretty much the same size as our Science Diet cat food! Our dog is 27 pounds but this smaller size is much easier for her to eat too quickly even with her slow feed bowl. Please bring back the round slightly larger size. I just know I am going to get it mixed up with the cat food!

My dog wouldn’t eat it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wish that I could love this dog food and would love to leave a glowing review but try as I might I couldn’t get my dog to eat it! So strange. There must be something in the ingredients that she doesn’t like. Yes, I tried to slowly mix it in with her current food but as I increased the amount of the food she stopped eating all together.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is hard to get my dog to eat hard dog food for some reason, but she did eat this without any issue. I have noticed that she has had better gut health since eating it as she would some times display signs of a sensitive stomach with many of the regular dog foods you may find.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My little 2 year old toy poodle loves this food. It has cute, tiny kibbles which is perfect for this little guy. My dog tolerates it pretty well. No diarrhea or constipation. Highly recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I transitioned my dog to this food and he has been on it for 4 weeks. I have noticed that he has far less stomach issues and his digestion has improved immensely. I would definitely repurchase this and would reccomend to anyone that has dogs with sensitive tummy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dog food helps with my dog's sensitive stomach and skin. He has been eating it for a couple of weeks and does not seem to have any stomach issues like diarrhea or constipation. His skin lesions seem to get better. This dog food is nutritious and healthy. Questions

1 - 10 of 22 Questions

Age of dog this food best for?

  1. Thank you for your question. This food is recommended for adult dogs ages 1 years old on up. Hill's Pet Nutrition

What is the Max Crude Fat % in this food?

  1. Thank you for your question. The dry matter basis of fat in this food is 11.2%. Hill's Pet Nutrition

My mini wire hair doxie needs to lose 4 lbs. urrent weight 18 lbs. Idal weight 14lbs. Fall between guidelines on bag. Can you give me daily measure to start with to lose weightg

  1. We serve our long-haired Doxie mix, 3/4 of a cup in the morning and again at night. She has lost about 9 lbs this year and looks completely different.

Is Hill’s Science “Perfect Weight” food which is sold at Petco the same as Hill’s Science “Metabolic” food that is only available at Veterinary clinics?

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. Our Hill's Science Diet Perfect Weight dry dog food is recommended adult dogs, including those that are less active, neutered or otherwise prone to weight gain. This formula offers clinically proven technology for safe & effective weight loss with visible results within 10 weeks. On the other hand our Prescription Diet Metabolic formula offers a synergistic blend of ingredients which includes a unique fiber blend from fruits and vegetables that naturally works with your dog's unique metabolism. It's also formulated to promote a urinary environment that reduces the risk of developing struvite & calcium oxalate crystals. We hope this is helpful! Hill's Pet Nutrition

I switched to Hill's Science Diet about 7 weeks ago to try to help my dogs lose weight. One is 19# and should weigh about 12#; the other is 29# and should weigh about 22#. I have been feeding them about 1-1/4 cups per day but they haven't lost any weight

  1. I have a golden retriever who weighed 77 lbs and she had lost that girly look around her back hips. She is on the Perfect Weight food 1 1/4 cups, twice a day. I haven't taken her to the vets to get weighed but she has almost finished a large bag of this food. I do think she has lost a little weight but with this virus going around I can't take her out running in the woods, which really helps a lot. I am not crazy by the small bits since I had taught her to chew her food (which was a larger kibble) and she might chew a mouthful or two because I tell her too but basically inhales it.

can diabetic dog eat this food ,vet recommends low fat diet

  1. This food is 11.2% fat free on a dry matter basis. That’s with all the moisture removed, so you can compare it to another product by dry matter basis and be comparing apples to apples. That’s relatively low fat, as dog foods go, but there’s lower out there. You need to ask your vet how low in fat on a dry matter basis he or she wants.  The Hills Science Diet Light kibble (compared to the perfect weight) is a bit lower in fat.

How many calories per cup?

  1. Perfect Weight (as shown on bag): 3191 kcal ME/kg 299 kcal ME/cup 80 lb Lab (this worked for my dog): 3 1/2 cups for weight loss 5 1/2 cups for weight management

Are there reviews by verified purchasers ? All seem to be from part of or a freebie “sweepstakes entry”  ?

Do you know of any side effects such as shedding more than usual?

    1. This is an unusual report. We’d suggest consulting with your veterinarian for guidance if your pet has started to shed more. Hill’s Pet Nutrition

We currently are using the sensitive stomach by Hills. Our King Charles is overweight, and we are looking to change his food. Science Diet, is this food ok for sensitive stomachs, and are the calories low enough in comparison for our Pup to loose weight?

    1. Hi Jeffsretired, This is not specially formulated for pet's with sensitive stomach, so it will be best if you could consult your vet for suggestions. On the other hand, this product only has 291 kcal/cup. Thanks
