Yes, your bunny should be vaccinated against Myxomatosis and Rabbit Hemorrhagic disease. Best call your veterinarian to find out if he carries the vaccine and if not, whether he can order it. Usually veterinarians who treat bunnies regularly carry the vaccines.

You will need to check with your local Health department regarding vaccines. Rabbits should be vaccinated against myxomatosis and rabbit hemorrhagic disease when indicated or required by law. Kits as young as 10-12 weeks can be vaccinated.

Rabbits in the US do not require vaccinations but in some areas should be vaccinated against Myxomatosis and rabbit Hemorrhagic disease. Check with your rabbit veterinarian whether your bunny needs to be vaccinated in your area.

Thanks for reaching out. Vaccination depend on which country in which you reside. As I am in the United States and we don't have any vaccines approved for use in rabbits. But Austrailia might be different. I do believe there is a myxomatosis vaccine there and is recommended. you should consult a local veterinarian. Good luck.

Hello. Rabbits can be vaccinated against rabies, especially if they are to be kept outdoors & there is a threat of contact with wild animals. We use a vaccine called IMRAB for rabbits at risk, or are in petting zoos. Rabbits are very prone to developing injection site swellings & abscesses, so this is a potential problem with vaccinations in rabbits. Is the rabbit myxomatosis vaccine worth it if there's no cure?

While the vaccine isn't 100% effective, the few vaccinated rabbits who do get myxomatosis will develop a milder form of the disease and have a greater chance of recovery. I would recommend getting this vaccine for Scruffy, as myxomatosis is a horrendous disease and it's best to try to prevent it as much as possible.

Yes, you should absolutely take a rabbit to the veterinarian. Rabbits have special needs for their diet and husbandry and your veterinarian will be able to provide specific recommendations. Rabbits are prey species, so they hide signs of pain and illness imitate until things are advanced. Therefore, wellness exams 1-2 times a year are important. Hello. This is a good question. Generally, no, you don’t need rabies post exposure vaccinations since rabies is very rare in rabbits. However, if your rabbit has any exposure to wildlife by going outside into your yard, has a wound you cant explain, or has been showing behavior changes or aggression, the. I would be more concerned for possible exposure. The best thing you can do is to contact your own personal physician and the health department and explain the scenario. Seek medical care for your wound at least to make sure it doesn’t get infected. If the doctor has concern, they will likely want to contact your veterinarian. Best of luck!
