Why does my puppy sleep under the bed? Is it for comfort or security?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! What a cute name for your new puppy! If Groot is tired it is not uncommon to go sleep and he feels comfortable and safe under the bed. He isn’t mad at you, just sleepy which is normal for a puppy his age. He will play longer as he gets older. Putting him in the crate after he sleeps is perfect! This is teaching him his crate is his den and a safe place to be. It sounds like you are doing a great job! Kisses to Groot!

Hi there! Ziggy is probably just going somewhere he feels safe. Under your couch is a place that is probably mostly dark and somewhat confined. This is why many people crate train their puppies-it gives them a place to feel safe and secure! Hope this helps you, and congrats on your new puppy!

There is no way to know exactly why Mya is exhibiting this new behavior. It could be as simple as she is just too hot in the bed, or feels nervous about jumping up or down, etc. As long as she seems completely normal otherwise, and has no vomiting, diarrhea, or other medical issues going on, I would try not to worry too much about it. That's a very good question! There could be various reasons Miku likes to sleep in your bed. It's comfortable, likely raised enough to provide a good vantage spot to view the rest of the room from, and most importantly, it makes her think of you, which is likely comforting to her. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If all the dogs are tolerating sharing of the beds I don't think there is much to do or read in to. Since Milo doesn't normally live with you he probably isn't possessive of this bed and he is young at 10 months. Anakin must like the bed. If it bothers you then I would keep removing Anakin from Milo's bed and try to keep each dog in their respective places but it may be a losing battled unless you physically separate the dogs at night in different rooms. Hi there. It's fine to let him sleep in bed with you if you don't mind, and if you're a light enough sleeper to wake up during the night if he needs a potty break (which is likely!). It's normal for young puppies to be frightened or unsure about sleeping alone at first. Until today, he always slept with his littermates in a warm snuggly pile, with his mom nearby. So being by himself in a cold bed is scary, and not natural.
