Why is my Yorkie suddenly sleeping under the bed after 7 years?

Silly Yogi! :) This is actually very common - many puppies and also adult dogs like to sleep under things, as it makes them feel more secure. One of my dogs actually likes to sleep with his head under the couch and his body sticking out; he's 9 years old now, and has always done this. As long as Yogi is acting normal otherwise, this shouldn't be any cause for concern.

Precious may be too hot on the bed, or she may have found another place she prefers to sleep that feels more secure. If she also has changes to her appetite or energy level, or if she is coughing, sneezing, vomiting or having diarrhea, I recommend having her seen by a vet, as sometimes changes in behaviour/ sleep patterns can indicate illness.

These are general symptoms of disease, but i could not tell you what is causing this, you will need to take her to the vet in order to get her checked, she will probably need to have at least a blood test done in order to find out what is wrong with her.

Unless he is exhibiting other symptoms, such as lethargy, GI upset, decreased appetite, lameness or abdominal pain, then there is likely no cause for concern. As you stated yourself, it is a new bed and it may be more comfortable than the settee for Woody.

It’s hard to say why she would do this, but wouldn’t it be great if Kiss could just talk?!?! Obviously watch Kiss for any signs of illness or pain: limping, reluctant to walk or play, acting lethargic or any other signs of illness. If she seems abnormal, then I recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian. Behavior wise, Kiss may think the bed is her den and every time she cries and you lift her on the bed, you reward the behavior. Pets learn by positive and negative reinforcements. Every time she has a positive reinforcement, she will continue to exhibit the behavior. It’s hard to say why she would start this behavior. Watch her off the bed and see if there’s anything on the floor or in the house that seems to make her scared. Slippery floors are a very common stresser for pets so be mindful of that. That could be completely normal and would not be a sign of any type of behavioral change or abnormality. He probably feels very comfortable sleeping anywhere in your house.
