My new puppy won't sleep alone. Is it okay to let it sleep in my bed?

In my personal opinion, this is not a problem at all, i have never seen any negative effect on a puppy sleeping on it's owner's bed rather than in a crate. as long as you are comfortable with the idea that he is likely to always want to sleep on your bed in the future it's absolutely fine.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Congrats on your new puppy! There is no one best answer here. If you ask 10 people you'll likely get 10 different answers. I always recommend going with your gut but being open to modifying your plan based on the puppies personality. When I got my rescue dog at 9 months, my plan was to crate him downstairs but he barked and I couldn't sleep. So I brought him upstairs and he has slept on a dog bed on the floor ever since. I think you should list out what is acceptable and what isn't (allowed on the bed/furniture or isn't, crated or not crated) and then make that the goal and stick to it. Whether you have the crate in your room temporarily and then move it somewhere else can depend on how needy Samson is in the beginning. Are you willing to let him "cry it out" or not. I am a fan of trying to set up a routine early so they get used to that. He will be needy the first several days but then should start to adjust and you can get stricter. He isn’t mad at you, just sleepy which is normal for a puppy his age. He will play longer as he gets older. Putting him in the crate after he sleeps is perfect! This is teaching him his crate is his den and a safe place to be. It sounds like you are doing a great job! Kisses to Groot!

It is better not to let Doobie do that as he will get used to sleep with you and will prefer that rather than sleeping in his own place. This behaviour can then predispose to development of separation anxiety as well.

Teddy is just a baby, and is really too young to be away from his mother and littermates. A puppy this age would never normally be sleeping alone, so this is probably very stressful for him - it's normal for him to cry if he wakes up by himself. I would recommend having him sleep in your bedroom, either in bed with you or in a crate right beside you, so he knows that you're there and doesn't have to feel scared if we wakes up at night.

Congrats on the new puppy! I think it is fine to leave him alone as long as he is in a crate so he can’t harm himself or get into any trouble. At this age he is likely going to need to be let outside at least once or twice in the middle of the night until he is able to hold it all night. You can play a low volume radio/music or put a ticking clock near him to help soothe him at night. I would not give him any water after an hour before he goes to bed. Move his crate into your room. As he acclimated, you can gradually move it out. You can also try a cover, nightlight, leaving a radio on low and place a heating pad under the crate to provide warmth. Use on with a thermostat and make sure he cannot get to it or urinate on it. A pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety.
