My unvaccinated puppy chewed a street ball. Could she get sick?

In theory, she has not mount a response to her vaccines yet so she can still get infected with like parvovirus if those feces were infected with parvovirus. As long as Lola is only playing in your own yard with your other dog the risk for parvovirus infection is low. I would still recommend avoiding places like dog parks where you can't be sure of the health status of other dogs. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. To be on the safe side, I would wait until your puppy is fully vaccinated. Murph probably developed majority of the immunity already, put parvo is too dangerous disease to take the risk.

Hi there. Assuming Sophie has had her full vaccination schedule and appropriate boosters then the likelihood of her becoming ill with parvovirus is very rare. Of course, some animals don’t respond as well to vaccines as others, but that is a rare occurrence. If for some reason she does get sick and you have proof of vaccination given by a veterinarian then most vaccine companies will pay for treatment. I certainly understand your concern given how deadly rabies is, but if he is up to date with his rabies vaccines, there is no need to worry. He is fully protected and cannot get it. Rabies is transferred by bites, so a little saliva transfer won't be enough. I hope this helps!

They get most of the contagious disease form direct contact with a sick dog or by eating infected stool. Just walking your dog doesn't necessarily put them at risk. Keep up with his DHPP vaccine every 3-4 weeks until he has had two past 12 weeks of age. Signs to look out for are: vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, lethargy. I wish you the best
