How to stop my dog from scratching a cut on his snout before vet?

I'd recommend getting an Elizabethan Collar (aka "The Cone of Shame") and then apply some triple antibiotic on the area twice daily. Keep using the Cone until the area has healed. An e-collar (cone) will go a long way in aiding in healing. Keep it on until the wound is completely healed. Limit activity to just leash walks for elimination. Avoid excessive running jumping or rough play. Vetericyn Plus spray (https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/dog/dog-health-and-wellness/vetericyn-plus-wound-and-skin-care-for-dogs ) may also speed healing. You can find it in the local Petco.

It sounds as though Frank is really preventing his sore from healing. I would recommend placing a cone/e-collar on him to prevent him from rubbing his face. You may also want to talk to your veterinarian about using a topical ointment/antibiotic to help it heal more quickly. An ointment may help reduce irritation which in turn may stop him from rubbing.

I do not recommend putting anything on the snout, most dogs have a very long tongue that will get to whatever you put on the snout within 5 seconds. it doesn't sounds like a serious injury, just leave it as it is , it will heal within a few days.

If it is a small cut you can put some Neosporine ointment on the cut, however, it is likely that Tank will lick it off. If it is a large cut then he will need to be seen by a veterinarian. If the cut is not bleeding profusely you can also just leave the cut alone for now and observe it. Should it get infected, he will need to see a vet. I realize this may not be possible under the circumstances.

Until then, an E-collar may be helpful to keep her from scratching. Many vet clinics, pet stores and feed stores have these for sale. Keep her chin clean and dry, and be sure to wash food and water bowls daily. Stainless steel or ceramic bowls are best as plastic may hold bacteria that can worsen infections on the chin or muzzle. Do not use alcohol or peroxide on the lesion, a mild antiseptic such as chlorhexidine can be used to help clean it.
