Can Simparica and Apoquel help my dog's mange and allergy itching?

Simparica is a once a month flea and tick preventive medication and giving it daily will soon overdose your dog and possibly cause severe health problems and death. So please, give Simparica only as instructed on the label. A one time application will likely be enough to kill the mange. If not, ask your vet to prescribe Bravecto (one-time application) for your dog. You can give Omega 3 fatty acids daily.

Usually a dog with sarcoptic mange is retested after 2 treatments and considered mite free after testing negative 2 months in a row though this protocol may vary depending on the veterinarian. They are each labeled for once a month so it is safe and will be more effective if you alternate them every 2 weeks instead of using them at the same time each month. make sure the environment stays treated also to minimize what gets on him.

Prescription monthly Nexgard flea and tick preventative also kills mange and is approved for a 4 month old dog (monthly Simparica and Bravecto every 12 weeks also work off label to kill mange but are labeled for dogs 6 months and older). She can be just on monthly Nexgard without the ivermectin therapy but both are safe as well. I recommend inquiring with your vet about monthly Nexgard for Winter and seeing if she may have underlying allergies as well which can predispose dogs to getting mange. Prescription Apoquel pills or monthly Cytopoint allergy injections Injections are both very effective in treating itchiness from environmental allergies (typically characterized by paw licking, scratching, chronic anal gland issues, chronic ear infections). Either medication (Seresto or Bravecto) can be used. Since Lola is suffering from skin issues I would recommend Bravecto or Nexgard. Both of these are working very well. The Bravecto will even work against mites.
