My puppy stung by wasp, limping, not eating. Does she need a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 2 days old | 10 lbs

Hi! So my 10 week old Mini Aussie has gotten stung on the leg by a wasp while playing outside. She started barking really loud and whining after it had happened. And she was limping on that leg. She is sleeping now comfortably wrapped up in nice warm blankets. But doesn’t want to eat anything. Does she need medication? Or to see the vet??? Will she be okay!??? I don’t want to lose her tonight

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I do think that she should see a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. She may be having an allergic reaction to the sting. Also, this appears to be causing her pain which may be why she is not eating. It is hard to know without an examination but this is certainly concerning. They would be able to examine her and determine what would be best to treat her with. Good luck and have a good night!
