My dog won't walk, yelps when touched, and won't eat. Is she sick?

She may be having an allergic reaction to the sting. Also, this appears to be causing her pain which may be why she is not eating. It is hard to know without an examination but this is certainly concerning. They would be able to examine her and determine what would be best to treat her with. Good luck and have a good night!

I worry that she is experiencing pain with her crying. Small breed dogs can be prone to neck or back pain. The muscles lining the spine can spasm in response to inflammation within the spine. In this case, she would need medications to control her pain. Be sure to keep her quiet in the meantime and do not give any over-the-counter pain medications. It is common in small breed dogs and can be excruciatingly painful. It starts as a reluctance to walk or move, the dog will avoid stairs and is hesitant to jump on furniture. It is common for the appetite to be decreased and the dog to pant and shake. It can progress to weakness or even paralysis of a limb. So it is best to address it as soon as possible if this is the cause of her symptoms. In the meantime, keep her very quiet and carry her when she needs to move. I am so sorry to hear about Peppa. Her symptoms are very concerning. If she is unable to walk/use her legs we would worry about things like a herniated disk in her back, a fibrocartilaginous embolism, a stroke, and a traumatic injury. Some of these conditions may improve with conservative treatment by a vet such as steroids, pain medication, and muscle relaxers. I would be concerned she is shivering due to discomfort. I would recommend bringing her into hte vet as soon as possible. Poor Belle! It sounds like she is experiencing some pain and she could have a problem with her back or possibly abdominal pain. In order to diagnose, she needs to be examined by a vet to localize the source if the pain. She may need an anti-inflammatory and pain medications to help treat the problem. You should restrict her activity until she is seen by a vet; no running, jumping, etc. Hope she feels better soon!

The veterinarian will examine her and try to determine the source of her pain. She may also need bloodwork and possibly x-rays. From there, treatment can be started. it sounds like she either hurt one of her front legs (and by lowering her head it puts less weight and pressure on the affected leg) or she has a slipped disk injury (cervical slipped disks can affect the head and the limbs at once). If you can't take her to an emergency center or out of hours services let her rest and minimize her movement as much as you can until you can get her to your vet.
