My puppy threw up and won't eat for 36 hours. What should I do?

Poor girl. If she hasn't turned around after 24 hrs of conservative treatment at home at your vets recommendation, then it's best to have her seen at this point. I fear she may have something more serious going on that requires treatment through your vet. She could have a number of things going on including a viral infection, bacterial infection, or even a foreign body obstruction just to name a few. And it's best to get her treated for her specific condition quickly as prolonged treatment will lead to a longer recovery period. Until you can get Jessi seen I would suggest offering her small amounts of Pedialyte non-flavored via a syringe or small turkey baster and small amounts of canned puppy food or plain boiled chicken and rice . Hi, sorry to hear your puppy is sick. Vomiting once does not concern me. Since she is a puppy, she may have gotten into something she's not supposed to and has an upset stomach. I would give her a pill of pepcid or Famotidine then fast her with no food or water for 6-8 hours. Then start with some water. If she keeps that down, feed her some boiled chicken and rice instead of her own food and no treats either. Feed her this for 2-3 days to settle her stomach. if at time time she continues to vomit or is also having diarrhea, he will need to see a vet. Puppies can get dehydrated quickly and should get tested for the serious disease called parvovirus if she is having vomiting or diarrhea. Good luck, i hope Jessi feels better!

It could be Chloe has a severe stomach illness, may have eaten something rotten,could have a foreign body, or pancreatitis. It's very concerning that she has been vomiting and not eating for the past 24 hours. I'd have her seen by a vet now to have this diagnosed and treated. I hope this helps!

Since last night was Halloween, think about if there's anything she could have eaten that she shouldn't have and take her to the vet ASAP if you realize your chocolate stash or your entire pan of bacon wrapped something or anothers from the potluck is missing. If you can't think of anything she ate, it's generally ok to wait 24 hours to see if she get back on her food naturally. Sometimes something goes wrong in the gut and we don't know why but it resolves quickly. If she's not back to normal in 24 hours, or has any vomiting or diarrhea in the mean time, she needs to go to her vet for evaluation and supportive care. Julia should be examined by your veterinarian today. Vomiting and a lack of appetite in a puppy can quickly lead to dehydration which can kill. If she is not vaccinated, diseases such as distemper should be ruled out. At the very least, she may need supportive care (IV or subcutaneous fluids, anti emetics and parenteral nutrtion) until she is eating on her own and not vomting any longer.

Poor girl. You can try fasting her for 12 hrs and then slowly introducing a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese in small portions. This can help settle her stomach if she just got into something she shouldn’t have and it just upset her stomach. If she is still puking then it’s best to have her seen by your vet for testing to determine the underlying cause (kidney disease, pancreatitis, infection) and medications (ie anti-nausea medicine, antibiotics, etc) to help her feel better. Poor Ava sounds pretty sick, and she may have a stomach illness. She could be trembling because she has a fever, and I'm concerned that she's not eating much. Try feeding her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
