Why is my puppy not eating and throwing up bile after a trip?

If Toby has only thrown up 1 maybe 2 times but is still eating,drinking and playing normally I would continue to monitor his behavior . If at anytime he starts vomiting more, acting lethargic, having diarrhea or not eating I would recommend taking him to a vet as soon as possible. It is possible that Toby ate something he should not or even had a mild upset stomach that caused him to get sick. IF he is acting normally but continues to occasionally vomit I would recommend switching his dog food because sometimes vomiting can be secondary to a food allergy. I hope that helps

With Toby bring such a young dog and being so ill I would highly advise that you take him to a vet who can hospitilise him on fluids. If he is vomiting and having loose motions I imagine he is very dehydrated.

I would be worried that Toby may have pancreatitis, liver disease, or any other cause of pain. It would be best if he saw his veterinarian in order to have a physical exam performed. He may also need blood work or x-rays depending on what the veterinarian finds. You can try offering him a bland diet of boiled chicken, hamburger, or turkey and rice.

If Toby is vomiting, that means he’s sick. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, he develops diarrhea, he stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. He might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 12 hours then offer Toby boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If he continues vomiting or is not eating, take him to the vet to get treatment.

Some suggestions and thoughts: 1) Ensure he has some comfort items in the new home that is used to, e.g. his old dog bed, toys, etc. Even better would be a crate that he usually sleeps in. Any of these items will provide some comfort and familiarity in his new home. 2) When he doesn't eat or drink unless you hold the bowl, that may be his way of getting attention from you. Has your work schedule changed so you are spending less time with him on a daily basis? 3) There is a dog pheromone spray called Adaptil that can help reduce stress in dogs during times of change. This can be found readily at most vet hospitals. 4) It is also possible there may be a medical issue going on. If we have ruled out behavioural causes, it would be worth visiting your vet in order to rule out any sources of pain or discomfort that may be causing him to avoid his food and water.
