My puppy is sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and snoring. What's wrong?

The most likely causes are an infection or allergies. An object stuck in the nose is possible but typically tends to be one sided and will start to have greenish discharge. If he's acting fairly normal otherwise (eating and drinking fine, active, etc.) you could opt to monitor him for now and see how things go for the next few days. The problem may resolve on its own, similar to when we get a minor cold or allergy flare-up. If there is no improvement in the next 2-3 days, or if your pup develops other symptoms such as coughing, thick green or yellow nasal discharge, or begins acting very lethargic or not eating, then I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian for treatment.

It could be an upper respiratory tract infection, allergies, something stuck in the nasal cavity, among a few other things. If Dior is otherwise normal, I would continue to monitor him at home for signs of illness, such as lethargy, rectal temperature over 103, coughing, decreased appetite, etc. If these occur, then he should definitely get checked out by a vet.

Based on your description it is likely mild allergies causing some nasal drainage. Over time allergies can also cause rhinitis in pets, which presents as snorting (stertor) sounds. If things don’t improve to seem to be bothering Remus your vet can prescribe some antihistamines to try or even some allergy medications. Secondary bacterial infections can also develop which typically cause decreased appetite, a low grade fever sometimes and yellow or geeen drainage from the nose. If you see those symptoms then it’s best to get him treated soon with a short course of antibiotics. Otherwise you may be able to wait things out to see if his allergies clear up. Oh no, poor Ruffus! From your picture, it looks like he is quite ill. I see significant discharge from his eye, and that mucus from his nose is quite thick. He could be suffering from a severe respiratory infection causing his symptoms. If he's breathing through his mouth, then it is likely because he is very congested. Ruffus could also have an eye infection causing the discharge, and any problem with the eye should be considered an emergency because it's such an important and delicate structure. He does need to see a vet immediately for these symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. This is likely just from stress and allergies but could the beginning stages of an upper respiratory infection. I would start with some benadryl twice a day. See link below.
