My puppy is sneezing, tired, and cranky. Could it be allergies?

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Male | neutered | 4 months and 14 days old | 33 lbs

My puppy has been sneezing very often for the past 3 days. Doesn't matter if we're inside or outside. His appetite hasn't changed, but is a little more tired and cranky. He is also teething though, can see he has lost about 4 teeth in last 2 weeks. Could it be an allergy? We haven't changed food or treats in the past 3 days...

Hi there. Sneezing could be caused by allergies, or an upper respiratory infection. If he's acting fairly normal otherwise (eating and drinking fine, active, etc.) you could opt to monitor him for now and see how things go for the next few days. The problem may resolve on its own, similar to when we get a minor cold or allergy flare-up.

If there is no improvement in the next 2-3 days, or if your pup develops other symptoms such as coughing, thick green or yellow nasal discharge, or begins acting very lethargic or not eating, then I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian for treatment.

No, this isn't normal and this can be sign of a respiratory infection or allergies. It would be best for Oreo to see a vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated. I would have her seen by a vet this weekend if they are open for normal business hours; if not, I would take her in on Monday. Make sure she keeps eating and drinking, and stays warm. If she appears congested, you can try using a humidifier or bringing her into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. Ifs he is eating and drinking normally and still playful, then you can try the steam from a hot shower to help break some mucous up and see if that helps. If it does not get better or her appetite is decreased then I would have your vet examine her to see if she has a respiratory infection or if it is allergy induced.

This is likely just from stress and allergies but could the beginning stages of an upper respiratory infection. I would start with some benadryl twice a day. See link below. Allergies are not common in a puppy but they can occur. More common would be an infection. I recommend to have him examined by a veterinarian. New pets should generally have an exam soon after they are adopted to test for worms which could spread to humans and have an over all health assessment. I hope this helps.

My puppy is sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and snoring. What's wrong?

Poor Julian! Dogs can get respiratory illnesses and allergies, both of which can cause sneezing, coughing, and discharge like you've seen. In the case of infections, the discharge may become cloudy or yellow/green, whereas allergies tend to stay clear. In either case, since this has been ongoing a few days, it's a good idea to bring Julian into your vet. They can provide allergy medications or other treatments as needed depending on the cause. If you notice him worsening, the discharge changing color, fever, or changes in behavior or appetite, that's a sign that he needs to be seen sooner. Until then, keeping his eyes and nose clear with a clean washcloth can help keep him comfortable and prevent any debris from getting stuck and crusting his nostrils or eyes shut. Keeping him eating and drinking and in an area free of dust and dander can also help.

My dog is sneezing with warm nose/ear, eating. Could it be allergies?

Periodic sneezing can just be a sign of allergic rhinitis, especially if he is otherwise eating well and behavior hasn't changed. Contact your vet to see if there are some antihistamines that can be tried for now, then continue to monitor him to see if the sneezing improves over the next few days. If he does develop any nasal discharge or eye discharge at any point, then a vet visit is definitely recommended. I hope that Diego feels better soon! Best wishes and take care.

Why is my dog sneezing but acting normal? What could be the cause?

Hachi's sneezing could be a caused by a couple of things such as an upper respiratory infection, environmental irritant (dust, pollen), or allergies for example. Given that he is otherwise acting normal, I would monitor him for now. Should the sneezing continue over the next couple of days, it increases in frequency, he starts coughing, his appetite decreases, he becomes lethargic, and/or there is a discharge from his nose or eyes, then I would take him into the vet for a health check. My newly adopted dog sneezes and sleeps a lot. Is this normal?

He could have some allergies or possibly have an upper respiratory infection. You can monitor him for a few days and see if the sneezing resolves. If it continues, he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He may need an anti-histamine or antibiotic to treat. As for the sleeping, it may take him some time to adjust to his new home. As long as he seems energetic when you take him out than it is probably nothing to worry about. You could have him examined by a vet if it continues. I'm so sorry to hear Koda is not feeling well. Being congested and sneezing could indicate he has an upper respiratory infection. Some of these dogs can cough/gag up a foamy white material as well. He could also be suffering from allergies. He will need to see his veterinarian if his symptoms persist, especially if his appetite decreases. In the meantime, let him rest and do not take him out and about in case he is infectious. Hope this helps!
