Is supplementing puppy Pedigree with smoked chicken and corn safe?

Pedigree is better than Alpo in my opinion, and if that is the best option you have to feed Pocholo, there's nothing wrong with feeding him that. It's not harmful to feed him this, but I would make sure you are feeding him a puppy formulated food. Puppies need higher amounts of calories, protein, and calcium than adult dogs, and a puppy formulated food will give him that.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would avoid human foods if you can. Once you go down that road of adding human food it is almost impossible to go back. If you need to add human food I would still with boiled chicken or hamburger as it is more bland then corned beef. Consider changing dog food brands or adding water or canned dog food to his dry food. Healthy dogs do not choose starvation and if you hold steady and firm that dog food is all he gets then he will learn. Dogs are smart and will hold out when they know something better will come along. A lot of times the dogs train the owner not the other way around. Be careful with what human foods you feed as they can cause an upset stomach or pancreatitis if too high in fat. I wish you the best!

I would make sure that the puppy Pedigree you are feeding is for larger breed dogs since he is a Lab. Boiled eggs are a great protein source and good fat source but I don't think you need to give that everyday. Maybe decrease the frequency of that to allow him to grow a slower rate like the larger breed puppy foods account for. Puppies get dirty and need to be bathed. It's ok to bathe him but just keep him warm and dry him off good once you are done. Use a good oatmeal shampoo, preferably one without soap or detergent especially if you are using topical flea and tick products. Soap/detergent shampoos will strip some of those products off, lessening their duration and effectiveness. Cooked chicken without the skin is a good treat or addition to a dogs diet. Just remember we don't want him to grow too fast so don't feed a lot at one time and spread out the frequency of giving extra protein to him. Good luck with Buddy. Hello. I do not think there is anything that gives us more pleasure than cooking something special for our pets. There is absolutely nothing wrong with adding a little chicken, brown rice & sweet potatoes or pumpkin to her kibble, as long as the majority of her diet is the dog food. Dog food companies go through some rigorous testing to make sure a diet is healthy & more importantly, balanced, which is almost impossible to do with a home cooked diet. Pedigree is pretty much junk food, as long as the label marks the animal the meat or fat comes from it's fine, if it is not specify it is a good reason to be suspicious. here are a few high quality foods: Orijen, Acana, Evolve and Taste of the wild.

I would say Pedigree is the best for Zara. Be sure to feed her a puppy formulated food, as puppies need higher amounts of calcium, protein, and calories than adult dogs. A puppy food will provide that for it, as well as all the nutrients she needs to grow correctly and be healthy. She does NOT need any medicines, her puppy food will give her what she needs. Adding additional medications with her food can abnormally affect her growth, i.e. too much calcium leads to bone growth abnormalities. As for weight, each puppy grows differently even within a breed, so it's not really possible to say her perfect bodyweight. At four months of age, she should be roughly half of her adult weight, and female German Shepherds can weigh between 48.5-70.5 pounds when fully grown. I hope this helps!

A small amount of chicken meat is ok to mix with her food as long as it is not fried chicken. Make sure she is eating all her puppy food as human food is not a nutritionally complete diet for a dog.
