Is Pedigree harmful for my 7-week-old puppy? What food is safe?

Shimar is so cute!! I think as long as your are feeding a high quality commercial puppy food then she is getting all the nutrients she needs. My favorites are science diet, royal canin, Iams, and Purina. All of these have been around for a long time and have several studies to back up their product. I hope this helps!

Pedigree puppy food is fine to feed your puppy, but you don't have to mix it with water as he is old enough to eat solid food. That being said, it will do no harm to mix it with the water :-) He should eat three times a day, once in the morning, noon, and evening. Once he is six months old, he can be fed twice a day (morning and evening). I would feed him according to the instructions on the label, and divide it into three equal portions.

Prepare the PetLac according to the directions on the label. Pour that into the puppy food and soak until it is soft, then mix it up so your puppy can eat it easily. Ideally, a puppy should stay with the mother and litter until at least 8 weeks of age. Since your pup is so young, you will need to keep a close watch on her weight and condition. Weigh her daily to confirm weight gain. Keep her warm and dry. Have her examined by your veterinarian to confirm good health. She will need to be dewormed and you can discuss vaccines with the vet. I am unsure of what brands of food are available in India. You can visit the pet store and then post the brands in another question so we can recommend a good quality food for your puppy.

I really don't think you need to add in the other items but as long as she is not overweight I do not see the harm in it since it is only 5% of the meal. You didn't mention if you are giving her the chicken bone - if you are, I don't recommend you do this. Just give the meat only. It sounds like you are doing just fine. Just monitor her weight. There are worse brands and there are better brands. If your dog does well on it, is healthy and it is easy for you to get then you can continue to feed it. If your budget and shopping options allow, consider a better quality diet.

Hello, congratulations on your new puppy. Ideally, any commercial puppy food should be sufficient to maintain Jax's growth. Pet foods with better reputation include brands such as Royal Canin, Hills, and Eukanuba but this does not necessarily have to be the case for your puppy. If Jax is eating, drinking, and gaining weight adequately, then you should continue to feed pedigree puppy food until he is about a year old, then transition him to adult food. Don't listen to sales associates about food choices. They are not trained in animal nutrition. Ivorie probably doesn't like the new food, and I would not recommend Merricks. Pedigree is fine for her, keep her on that. I hope this helps!
