How do I get my puppy to sleep through the night without a crate?

I recommend that you ignore her while she does it and she will eventually learn that her crying will not lead you to go get her which is better as she will become more independent. Best of luck!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Snoopy. Most puppies will wake up during the night to go potty. They cannot typically hold their urination and defecation through the night until after 3 months of age. So take him outside, let him go potty and place him directly back in his crate or sleeping area. Be quiet and do not engage in play with him. This will help him learn to go back to bed quickly. He will eventually get on more of a normal schedule, but this may take some time. When he is awake, you can absolutely play with him as much as possible during the day to tire him out, but he will still need frequent naps. This is necessary and healthy for growth! Thank you for your question. If you go to Aki every time she whines, she will continue to whine. If Aki stops whining for 15 minutes, just let her be. Once she figures out that you are not going to come, she will eventually stop and learn that bedtime is bedtime, and the whining will stop. Don't reward her behavior with attention. I would try putting Co co in a crate at night. Keep in mind she's quite young, and it will take time for her to adjust to being in a new home away from her mother and siblings. It's truly like having a newborn baby in the home! But the good news is that puppies will get better at sleeping at night faster than babies. If you are comfortable with it, you can have her sleep with you at night in your bed. That might make her feel more comfortable. I hope you get some sleep!

Puppies don;t always sleep as well as adults. You may try crating her over night. You can give her heavy exercise just before bed. You cannot encourage the behavior by playing with her in the middle of the night or stimulating her. Most puppies will outgrow this. I hope this helps.

Hello, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I do not recommend giving Pepper any medication to sleep. She's still a baby, and is going through a lot of change and transition. What she needs is time, and patience. Give her a safe, dark, quiet place to sleep with a cozy blanket or other bedding. It may take her a few days to a few weeks to adjust, but she will figure things out. You may need to adjust your expectations a bit - medication is really not the solution here. Also, remember that she does not have a lot of bladder control at her age, and she may cry at night if she needs to go outside. Good luck to you!
