Will giving my puppy shots earlier than due date affect him?

Apollo should start his vaccines between 7-8 weeks of age. He will need them every 2-4 weeks until the final set at 16 weeks of age. The core vaccines are Distemper/Parvo, Rabies and Bordetella. When you are discussing vaccinations I am assuming you are referring to the distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza combination vaccine (DAPP). If Theodore is only about 6 weeks old he will need at least 3-4 more DAPP vaccines spaced approximately one month apart to be fully protected against distemper. Because Theodore will be at risk until he receives all of his distemper booster shots it is best to minimize his risk by not taking him to places where sick dogs may have been. So avoiding dog parks, pet stores, and kennels is a good idea. I would recommend starting veterinary visits for Theodore around 8 weeks of age so he can be examined and another DAPP vaccine can be given. Please remember to bring a fecal sample with you to the vet visit so he can be checked for intestinal parasites. It's best for Milo's immunity to have his second vaccine given four weeks after the first, but if you cannot get him into the vet at that time, do not put it off longer than a week. He will be fine with it being a week out. Best of luck!

Hello. Your veterinarian is correct. The first vaccination was done at too young an age to promote immunity. No harm was done & this is a common practice with breeders who vaccinate so early. To promote the best immunity, vaccines are administered at 8, 12 & 16 weeks of age, then again in 1 year. Vaccines should be administered as recommended by your veterinarian after the one year boosters. So yes, Maple should receive one more booster vaccination. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. 2 weeks is really too soon for the next vaccine. 3 weeks is early but is acceptable if you have to, 4 weeks is ideal. Hi there. No, that's not a problem at all. After the first set, the timing of vaccines is based on when the last boosters were given, not on the specific age of the pup. So this won't hurt anything at all.

Early vaccination does not obtain any advantage, on the contrary. his immune system at his age is not ready to receive vaccination yet, they will have very little effect and will leave him vulnerable to catch infections. i would not recommend vaccinating him before the age of 8 weeks.
