I'm rehoming my puppy. Will she miss me or adjust to a new home?

I can undeerstand that you are very sad, however I have to commend you for wanting the best for your puppy. You are a responsible person who realised that this is not the time for raising a puppy and therefore, rather than being selfish and letting the puppy suffer for it, you have decided to rehome it to a home where they have time for her. I suggest you stay in contact with her new people so you can visit her sometimes and see how well she is doing. So , while it is sad, don't be sad as she will have a happy life in her new home. You can be proud of yourself for making this decision!

Hello, and thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that Honey is having some trouble adjusting to her new home. Hopefully you brought with you a few familiar items with you from Honey's previous home, like a blanket or bed. Make sure she has access to that. Offer her plenty of cuddles and attention. Offer her usual food and treats from your hand, to help gain her trust. If Honey is used to a crate, make sure you use a similar one in your home. Place her bed in there and she should quickly be drawn to it as a place of comfort and safety. I'd also look into a product called Adaptil, which is a canine pheromone that can help reduce stress and anxiety in new environments. Give it time. It is a difficult phase for Honey right now, but she should gradually get used to her new home and learn to love her new family, if you are patient, consistent, and offer her a nurturing loving home! Dogs are very adaptable but it’s hard to keep adjusting to a new person and a new house. Dogs like stability. They want to bond with their human. They like a routine and changing households will disrupt all of that and begin the process over again. Hello. It may be, but you need to do what is right for you. If you can find a kind & patient individual to adopt Olivia, she may do fine. Many shelters & humane societies will work with foster homes to hopefully keep Olivia out of a more stressful shelter situation. But do try to keep Olivia with you as best you can. Putting human emotions on dogs (like depression) is called anthropomorphism. There is no way to quantify this in dogs. Is it possible the puppy with be confused and unsure of what is going on if you give her away - but to label it depression......no one knows. But it will better that she move on to another person if you cannot take care of her for whatever reason. Do what is best for her. If you cannot manage her then get her with someone who can. She will be fine.

Yes she will remember you but she will likely miss then when your return as she will have a new routine by then. She likely won't be more attached to your parents in that short time frame of care. But it is good she will get used to them and that environment for the future. It will make it less stressful down the road if she needs to watched again

This is a good question! I can certainly understand why you would want to take Bella Marie with you when you move out, and it is possible to take her with you. It will be an adjustment for her to go from living with three dogs and your mom to just you, but she can adjust. If you are concerned that she may get lonely and can afford to do so, after you are settled in your new home, you can get another dog so Bella Marie has company in the home. If she is your shadow, she is very attached to you, and I'm sure she would miss you if you left her behind. I think it would be fine to take her with you, just understand it will take her time to adjust to a new home and situation. Give her lots of love and attention, and consider getting another dog if Bella Marie appears lonely and it's something you can afford.
