My puppy's eyelid is red after vaccines. Is it an allergic reaction?

If he received his vaccinations on Thursday, it is unlikely that he is just now having a reaction to the vaccine. Most reactions occur within 24 hours after vaccination. However, some small dogs can be more sensitive when receiving multiple vaccinations. Based on what you've listed, the Lepto vaccine is the one that is most likely to cause a reaction because of the vaccine formulation. It is possible that there is something else leading to the reaction - such as something in his environment (insect, spider, etc). If he continues to have swollen and itchy eyes in spite of the Benadryl I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian so that they can administer injectable medications to help with this reaction. It is possible that is a vaccine reaction but I have not personally seen it manifest that way. If it is a vaccine reaction and it is localized to that one spot I would not worry at this time and just monitor it. If it worsens or does not resolve in a couple of days you should take him back to your vet for an exam. Also, be sure to mention it to the vet before his next vaccines. In the meantime you can get some Benadryl cream (you can buy at any drugstore) and just put a very THIN layer over the affected area twice a day to see if that helps.

Yes, it could be an allergic reaction, it could also be an eye infection. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog is lethargic, take him to the vet in order to get an antihistamine injection.
