My 3 month old German shepard puppy has been pooping white worms and vomiting. What should I do?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your puppy. He will need to see his veterinarian today. He potentially has round worms. However, fecal testing will be necessary to confirm this and to determine if there are any other parasites presents. It is common for puppies to be infected with more than one type of parasite. Sorry to hear about Brody's current condition. The vomiting and diarrhea could certainly be caused by parasites alone. This needs to be treated with dewormer, which can be obtained through your veterinarian or over the counter at a store like tractor supply. Another possible cause of the symptoms you are seeing is something like the Parvovirus. At only three months of age, Brody is not yet fully vaccinated, meaning he is at risk of this condition. I would definitely take him to the vet to be tested for this disease. Before arriving at the vet, I would encourage you to tell the vet exactly what the symptoms are. They may ask that you wait in the car with Brody until the test results are back so as to prevent the spread of this condition to other animals in the facility. Hope this helps.

Consider surrendering him to your local shelter to get him the best care. That does not look like a normal intestinal worm. Intestinal worms are white or light yellow. I suspect this is something he ate. Wrap it up in a baggie and take it to be examined by your veterinarian. To be safe, have the store checked for worms since some rooms can be spread to humans. Puppy threw up dewormer, sick, vomiting, diarrhea. What should I do?

Poor pups. While a heavy parasite load can cause severe GI upset, and anemia which can cause a pup to become extremely lethargic, have bloody diarrhea, etc, I would also want to rule out underlying illnesses as a possibility. It would be best to bring them to a vet ASAP especially if they are lethargic or unable to keep any food or water down as puppies can quickly become very dehydrated. They may also need supportive care such as an IV or injected medications if they are very ill from the parasites or other causes. You can try continuing to offer water, or rubbing a little honey on their gums for energy until you can get to the vet, however due to the severity of symptoms it would be best to seek emergency care.

Olaf is very young and puppies can really deteriorate quickly when they don't feel well. He really needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to determine the extent of the problem. If it is all due to intestinal parasites, your vet can do a fecal test to determine how many types of worms he has and get the appropriate medication for him. He may have other issues, he may benefit from a special high calorie prescription food for a short time to build him back up.

This looks like roundworms. You need to deworm this puppy immediately with pyrantel pamoate and febantel. They can be dewormed with this product as young as 2 weeks of age. I suggest you give a dose now and then again every 3 week until the puppy is at least 4 months old.
