My puppy just vomited something strange. Could it be a worm or not?

What is this in my puppies vomit, some type of work but what?

That does not look like a normal intestinal worm. Intestinal worms are white or light yellow. I suspect this is something he ate. Wrap it up in a baggie and take it to be examined by your veterinarian. To be safe, have the store checked for worms since some rooms can be spread to humans. I am sorry to hear about your dog. Based on your photo this doesn't look like any worms I have seen. It almost looks like fabric or stuffing that is in strips. If your dog continues to vomit, has decreased appetite or energy then I would recommend an examination by their veterinarian. You can always save the material the dog vomits and keep it in the fridge until your appointment for your vet to examine if you are uncertain.

From the picture it it looks like some type of maggot. I am suspicious that he probably ate this and that it isn’t a parasite. That does not look like an intestinal worm. Roundworms look like spaghetti and tapeworms look like pieces of rice. Those are typically the worms you see a dog vomit out or poop out. It also does not look like a whipworm or hookworm. I'm wondering if this is something Scout ate that has upset his stomach, leading to the shaking and coughing. He may have vomited it out. I would keep an eye on him for now. If he vomits, has diarrhea, is lethargic, or has a loss of appetite, take him into a vet immediately to get checked out. I hope this helps.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but if they are round and "spaghetti-like", they are probably roundworms. Most over the counter dewormers can take care of roundworms, however your vet can also prescribe deworming medications, and you can bring in a sample of them to your vet if needed to be identified in person.

My pet has white worm-like things in vomit and poop. What are they?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is not possible to know this just based on a picture. My best guess is that these could be foreign objects (not worms) or worms. I recommend that you have Mishu evaluated by a veterinarian to work the vomiting as this may be due to worms for instance, or something else like a gastrointestinal foreign body, among other possibilities. Is this dog vomit or poop? It has grass, carrots, and a worm.

I agree that it is likely vomit and not poop. The Long object could be a worm, but also resembles a plant stem to me. Since she was eating grass I suspect she could have also been consuming other plant materials. I would, however, recommend that you take a poop sample to your veterinarian to have it tested for parasite eggs to make sure that she doesn’t need any medications. These could be roundworms which are obviously infesting the gastrointestinal system. A check up and appropriate medications are needed to confirm this clinical suspicion and resolve it effectively. Take a poo sample with you so your vet can identify the worms.
