My puppy's nose has clear discharge for over a month, what's wrong?

Poor Daisy. If the discharge is just clear and not yellow or green, then this is likely a sign of allergic rhinitis. Something in the environment is causing her to have an allergic inflammatory response in her nasal passages. However, as long as the discharge remains clear she may get over this on her own over the next few weeks. Monitor her daily for any changes and have her seen by your veterinarian if things get worse (sneezing, infection type discharge, decreased appetite, etc). But hopefully she won't need to be seen and she improves on her own.

If there is milk coming out of the nose while you are bottle feeding this puppy then yes, there is cause for concern. Puppies can be born with cleft palates, meaning that the soft palate (roof of the mouth) did not properly fuse. Penelope should be checked immediately by a vet to verify that the palate is intact, and if it isn't she should be fed via a tube to ensure that she isn't regurgitating the milk. Once she is a bit older, the palate can hopefully be fixed with surgery. I would have to say that clear discharge isn't normal either, and even if this isn't milk I would get it checked by a vet immediately to look for abnormalities in the palate and swallowing.

If the discharge is clear then give it a few days to see if it resolves on its own, because it is possible this is just allergic rhinitis. If the clear draingae is severe, then you can also call your vet to see if they can recommend antihistamines for Panda to try. However if the discharge is any other color, then it's best to take Panda in to your vet for treatment because an infection is likely present, requiring the use of antibiotics to clear things up. I hope your puppy feels better soon!

I am sorry Snoopy is having this issue. It definitely can be a cold but there are other things it can be. It can be allergies or if it is one nostril that there is discharge it can be a growth. I recommend taking Snoopy to the veterinarian and having them listen to her to make sure there is nothing settled in her lungs and it is just an upper respiratory issue. If the discharge from the nose is clear and it's only occurring during walks it's probably more related to a mild allergy or exposure to cooler air. As long as it's only happening rarely and the discharge is clear I wouldn't be concerned. If the discharge become frequent, becomes yellow/green or mucousy, or Ziggy develops any other signs of illness like coughing or sneezing I would have him evaluated by your veterinarian.

This could be many things including irritation from something in the air, allergens, the beginning of an upper respiratory infection, or even a foreign body in the nasal passage ways. I would advise that if it continues or starts to thicken or turn green/yellow, or other signs develop like coughing, etc you need to see your veterinarian and let them evaluate Chewie. They can do a physical exam and advise some tests if needed to diagnose what is going on depending on if it's just one nostril or both. Blood work, x-rays, or other tests may be advised.
