Why can't my 8-week-old puppy walk? Legs collapsing, very tired.

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Male | 1 month and 25 days old | 2 lbs

I have a 8week old toy poodle. Today I woke him up from his nap, to eat and it's as if we wasn't able to stand up. He would try and stand and his legs would collapse and he would fall to the floor. I gave him milk and he drank it fine. It's been about an hour or more since I woke him up and he still can't walk right and he just stays laying down the mis tod the time. I call for his attention but it's as if he is so tired and doesn't want to walk ... should I take him to a vet to get checked ou

Yes, he should be checked by your veterinarian ASAP. This is not normal behavior for a puppy. He may be sick, anemic, have a low blood sugar or have suffered some kind of injury. Due to his very young age, he could decline quickly and the sooner he is checked, the better.
