Why are my 2-month-old puppy's front paws shaking when he sits?

If you have done a thorough check of his leg and are finding nothing wrong with Chief and he is walking on the leg just fine, I would monitor this for now. I have seen this in quite a few puppies and when I examined the puppy further, I found nothing wrong and it resolved on its own. If Chief begins to show signs of pain / discomfort, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It looks like Chief is about 12 weeks of age, so at this age he still needs to go through the remainder of his puppy vaccinations. Hello, congratulations on you new puppy. Its likely he was just having itchiness and there by scratching. After scratching, some dogs will shake their paws normally and you should not worry about it. If Chico has more severe or persistent trembling/shaking then have him seen sooner. Hope this helps and best of luck.

It does not sound normal for him to be holding his foot in such a way but every dog is different. You did not mention he was limping at all so I assume that he is not showing any signs of lameness? If he is in pain, he may be showing this by holding his paw up. This pain could be from a soft tissue injury or growth problem in that particular leg. If it continues and does not resolve, I would get your veterinarian to check the leg out during an examination to rule some possible diagnoses out and to determine if it is nothing to worry about. The shaking could be some residual discomfort. I would rest her for several days (no running, jumping, playing rough) and see if the shaking stops. If it persists I'd have your Vet take a look. I can certainly see how this would be very alarming to witness. The symptoms you describe may be related to a disease process affecting an organ system (more often the neurologic (seizure event) or cardiac (heart event) systems). What i would recommend is a visit to your family veterinarian for a physical exam, to discuss the events, and to discuss additional testing (like bloodwork to rule out organ changes). It is also extremely helpful to get a video of an event so that your vet can watch it. Also, given the age of your pup, make sure there is nothing new in the environment that he could be snacking on that may be toxic to dogs (plants, etc.). Usually small breed dogs require to be fed throughout the day every 6 hours or so. However, this could also be due to something else like a toxicity of some kind. Seizures can be detrimental to a dog's health and this warrants an evaluation as soon as possible by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!
