Why is my puppy eating less with bloody soft stool after moving?

As long as the stool was normal or close to normal, you can begin the transition back to the regular diet. Ideally, it should take 7-10 days to transition back. See how Teddy does tomorrow. If the stool is getting looser or more bloody, go back to a bland diet until it isn't, then restart the transition. Call your vet also and let him or her know that Teddy has loose/bloody stool again. A recheck may be recommended.

Diarrhea with blood can be due to stress, or it can be from an infection or parasites. If she’s bright and alert and eating and drinking normally this should resolve quickly. If she’s lethargic, depressed, not eating well then please take her right in for an exam and treatment. They will give medication to control the diarrhea, and may check for parasites, and blood work to check for anemia and dehydration. I recommend taking her for long walks and playing with her like you normally do so she’ll relax in the new apartment. The most common reason that we will see soft stool (with or without blood or mucous in it) in a puppy is some type of intestinal parasite. You didn't mention how old Ivy is or if your vet has checked a stool sample, but puppies can commonly have intestinal parasites. Some are microscopic, so the only way to know that they have them is for your vet to look under the microscope. And even if a puppy has been dewormed, it is common for them to have other intestinal parasites since there are no many different types of parasites and they each require a specific type of deworming. So, my first recommendation is to have your veterinarian do a fecal check on Ivy, then decide on an other treatment. Sometimes puppies need a probiotic for their intestinal tract depending on their age and diet history, so be sure to talk to your veterinarian about that as well. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. I'm concerned that Baxter is sick. If he's getting a new food, this blood in his stool could be due to that. It could also be due to intestinal worms, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, or a severe stomach illness. I think it's best you take him into a vet now to get checked out.

I am very sorry to hear that Theodore is experiencing these problems, I am sure it is very unsettling for you both. There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. In young puppies eating something they shouldn’t have and gastrointestinal worms are very common. If you haven’t done a de-worming treatment with Theodore yet it would be a good idea to. Broad spectrum puppy safe dewormers are available at most pet stores and at your local veterinarian. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few hours I would continue to monitor Theordore at home. Here is what you can do for him; Rest his gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. I also find that boiled, mashed skinless sweet potato is helpful for diarrhoea. If Theodore does not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice more fresh blood, He seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian immediately. You can add a canine probiotic to the diet that can help restore nirnak bacteria. You can feed boiled chicken and rice and yogurt also. A sample should be checked for parasites as he may need to be dewormed. Sometimes this can be caused by an infection, diet changes or stress from a new home and routine. If vomiting starts it he stops eating he needs to be seen immediately

I would be very concerned about Yogi. Has he had any vaccines? There are several possible causes of this in young dogs. Parvovirus is high on my list. Intestinal parasites is also on my list. If the veterinarian isn’t offering diagnostics like a parvo test or intestinal parasite test, I would go for a second opinion. I think that Yogi needs some oral medications and possible food change.
