My dog has bloody stools after vet treatment. Should I see another vet?

in most of the cases, blood in urine is related to bladder infection. Sometimes it can be caused by bladder stones but it is less likely. You need to take your Yogi to your local vets to confirm the diagnosis and the get treatment for him (usually a course of antibiotics).

If the blood has occurred more than a few times, or if she is in any way acting abnormal, then it is highly recommended to take her to your vet to get checked. Bloody stool can be caused by things like stress, intestinal parasites, diet change, or more serious things like a bleeding disorder, pancreatitis, etc. If the pet is ever acting ill and has blood, then this is considered to be an urgent matter in need of medical attention. It is likely still an intestinal parasite problem. I would have her stool retested to ensure she doesn't still have parasites. It is not uncommon for pets to require several rounds of medication to rid them of parasites, especially if they had a large load to begin with. Another possibility is that Princess's GI flora is unbalanced. Black, liquid stools are called melena and are not a good sign. This occurs due to the presence of digested blood in the feces. This is considered a medical emergency. He may be having an issue with his blood clotting. He may have a bleeding stomach ulcer. Do you think it is possible that he got into some type of toxin/poison? Many poisons will cause internal bleeding. Toxicity could explain the vomiting blood/froth and the black stools. 2. Passing semen with blood could indicate that there is problem with his prostate or it may indicate he is having a problem with his blood clotting (as above). I think you really need to take Yoda back to your vet to get more of a work up. Was any blood testing done? X-rays? I am glad the vomiting is under control I but I worry about the other symptoms you mentioned. Please understand it is difficult to comment with limited information. If you are seeing continuing blood, this likely means Togi is not completely normal yet. Dogs should not have blood in their stool. Togi should be examined by the veterinarian. Ask about parasite testing (both worms and protozoal). I'm not sure what medication he had but pets are often given and antibiotic and a probiotic as well as a bland diet if bacteria is suspected. Sometimes a special diet is used (a hydrolyzed protein) if a food allergy is suspected but typically food allergy does not cause bleeding in the gut. Lastly, your veterinarian may want to have an x-ray to look for a foreign object in the intestines. I hope this helps and that they figure out the cause quickly.

If he is having seizures that make this very serious as this is possibly unrelated and could be seen with conditions such as low blood sugar from vomiting, brain inflammation, epilepsy, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Bruno evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics and possibly an MRI. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration.
