Puppy chewed cord, now has bloody mouth. Is it an electrical burn?

You can check her mouth to see if you see any burns in there, but you would have known right away if she was electrocuted from chewing this cord. I suspect she may be ok, and I would feed her. Hello, I am so sorry this happened. Electrocution causes edema or swelling and build of fluid in the lungs. As a result, pets experience difficulties breathing and need oxygen support, fluid therapy and pain medication if the tongue or oral cavity was burned. Often times, patients need support for at least 24-48 hours. Please don't wait. Take Snow to the nearest veterinary emergency hospital. Take every precaution not to stress Snow in transport.

There isn't much you can do for irritation to the tongue. Thankfully tongues heal very quickly. If Toby seems painful, then he would need prescription pain medications since human OTC pain meds are not safe in pets. If he seems ill, he may need prescription antibiotics. You can feed soft food instead of hard food to avoid further irritation. I am more concerned about the cause of the wound to his tongue. If this is from biting an electrical cord, dogs can develop much more serious wounds in the following days and weeks that can involved the gums, cheeks, teeth, and even the lungs.

Aww poor Bentley! If the blood is just from his tongue being frozen to a window and him removing it, it should heal up quickly. If it is still bleeding tomorrow and not improving I'd recommend calling your vet, as they may prescribe medication to help coat the tongue and prevent pain. In the meantime you can offer him some cold water to help keep the area clean, and since cold can help slow bleeding, this may help reduce the blood. If Bentley is having difficulty eating or drinking, call your vet, as he may be in pain.

I strongly recommend a visit to the vet, as she might have wounds inside her mouth as well, and if she drank something corrosive might have a problem in her stomach as well. Either way, those look painful, and look like they might require antibiotics, especially if they are wounds from a fight. These you will need to get from the vet. At home human medications are not safe for dogs so do not give any human medications. Best of luck with River, I hope she feels better soon!

Hello. I think you just keep an eye on things this evening. More than likely Remy injured some of her oral mucosa which can bleed a lot with very little damage. Since she has been acting fine & eating normally, then there is no need to rush to the vet. See how she is tomorrow & decide if a visit is necessary, but it sounds as if the injury was superficial.
