My dog licked a plugged-in electrical cord. Is she okay? Did she get shocked?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 18 lbs

My dog was laying down on the electrical cord to my vacuum that was plugged in and she was also licking it... she did not bite it though- I don’t see any chewed cords. She just got it wet from her nose and mouth.. can she still suffer from an electrical shock?! Is she going to be okay?! Did she get shocked and I don’t know?!

Hello. Believe me, you would know if Kalli had been shocked by the cord. There would have been some immediate reaction, both physical & vocal. If she is acting perfectly normal, then she was not shocked by the cord. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
