My puppy had a grape, I pulled it out. Should I call the vet?

I think this may be a repetition of a previous question. If she is behaving normally there is nothing specific you can give back home as the grape is already digested by now. As said before monitoring possible signs of intoxication is the best course of action at this stage.

If you found it in Blue's vomit, that means he didn't ingest it, and he may be ok. I'd still have him checked out by a vet to be safe, as without seeing him in person, I cannot say if he will be ok or not for sure. You can wait until Monday to have him seen if he's acting normally. Best of luck.

I'm so glad you took Peanut to the emergency clinic right away and that they were able to make him vomit up the grape. The concern for the next few hours is that since they gave him medication to vomit the grape, some dogs will continue to be nauseated (despite anti-nausea medication) and will vomit again if fed or allowed too much water. So, that is the concern for the next few hours. If there is a possibility that Peanut ate any additional grapes, I would recommend having blood checked in 3 days to make sure his kidney values are normal. Otherwise, as long as Peanut returns to his normal appetite and energy level without any vomiting, there aren't any special instructions for grape ingestion that was immediately vomited. The next step would be administering activated charcoal (this can be bought over-the-counter at pharmacies). Hi, I dont’ think the vomiting and diarrhoea is related to the grape ingestion. It could be that she has also eaten something else ! I would recommend to have her checked over 48 hours post ingestion to check her blood, to make sure that everything is fine. Hope this helps !

I'm glad that your vet recommended that Charlie vomit up the grape that he'd eaten. The biggest challenge with grape ingestion is that there is no known "safe" amount. With this type of potential toxicity, some dogs can experience acute kidney failure after eating just one grape, while others can be perfectly fine after eating a bunch. As far as using hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, some studies have shown that there can be considerable damage and irritation to the esophagus and stomach due to hydrogen peroxide. Generally, I do not recommend using it for this reason. I understand that it's really challenging to measure and force-feed this substance, so it's really easy to give a little extra. Since Charlie has not stopped vomiting and is acting normally, odds are very good that he'll be absolutely fine. Just keep a close eye on him for changes in his overall demeanor, appetite, vomiting, hard swallowing (gulping not associated with eating or drinking), or any other concerns. If problems arise, be sure to take him to your vet, but again, odds are very much in your favor. I hope that everything goes well!

Every dog is different and 1 grape could be toxic to one dog and it could take 100 grapes to cause toxicity to the next. I recommend calling your vet for options to decontaminate Poppy.
