Dog ate grape, vet induced vomiting. What aftercare is needed?

The next step would be administering activated charcoal (this can be bought over-the-counter at pharmacies). I'm glad that your vet recommended that Charlie vomit up the grape that he'd eaten. The biggest challenge with grape ingestion is that there is no known "safe" amount. With this type of potential toxicity, some dogs can experience acute kidney failure after eating just one grape, while others can be perfectly fine after eating a bunch. As far as using hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, some studies have shown that there can be considerable damage and irritation to the esophagus and stomach due to hydrogen peroxide. Generally, I do not recommend using it for this reason. I understand that it's really challenging to measure and force-feed this substance, so it's really easy to give a little extra. Since Charlie has not stopped vomiting and is acting normally, odds are very good that he'll be absolutely fine. Just keep a close eye on him for changes in his overall demeanor, appetite, vomiting, hard swallowing (gulping not associated with eating or drinking), or any other concerns. If problems arise, be sure to take him to your vet, but again, odds are very much in your favor. I hope that everything goes well!

Hi, I dont’ think the vomiting and diarrhoea is related to the grape ingestion. It could be that she has also eaten something else ! I would recommend to have her checked over 48 hours post ingestion to check her blood, to make sure that everything is fine. Hope this helps !

I think this may be a repetition of a previous question. If she is behaving normally there is nothing specific you can give back home as the grape is already digested by now. As said before monitoring possible signs of intoxication is the best course of action at this stage.

Oh no, poor Rosie! Grapes are highly toxic to dogs and can cause acute kidney failure, leading to signs of lethargy, vomiting and inappetence. Rosie needs to go to an ER vet immediately, as this could be a life-threatening emergency. The vet will be able to examine her, determine her kidney values on lab testing (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis), and start her on IV fluid therapy with other supportive medications. Good luck!

It is too late for activated charcoal, and I am concerned about the red in her vomit. That's because it's a sign of bleeding in the GI tract. I don't recommend inducing vomiting at home, as the substance used to induce vomiting, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), can and does cause gastritis and esophagitis often worse than the initial problem. It could be that Cookie is suffering from those if you induced vomiting with H2O2. I would have her seen by a vet right away, as she may need gut protectants if there was damage done to her GI tract from the H2O2.

If you found it in Blue's vomit, that means he didn't ingest it, and he may be ok. I'd still have him checked out by a vet to be safe, as without seeing him in person, I cannot say if he will be ok or not for sure. You can wait until Monday to have him seen if he's acting normally. Best of luck.
