My puppy ate my dog's antibiotic. Will it hurt him? What should I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 18 days old | 35 lbs

I have a 9 month old puppy(35 lbs) named skipper. He ate my older dogs cefaseptin 750 mg tablet 10 minutes ago, will it hurt him? Is there anything I should be giving him or do?

Hello. This is twice the normal dude for him, but this is a very safe antibiotic with very low chance of toxicity. I doubt that Skipper will suffer any side effects, but to guard against nausea...try to feed him a little to reduce the chance that he could vomit . Other than the small chance of upset stomach, this is not a problem. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
