Is playing or a ball hit harmful to my pregnant dog's puppies?

It's perfectly fine for her to play catch and run around while she is pregnant. It would only be concerning if she is getting hurt while playing, or over-exerting herself. I hope that helps and all is well with Luna.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It's ok! Give yourself some credit that in the mist of a traumatic situation we do instinctual things. She should be fine. The puppies are small and protected by the amniotic fluid and the placentas. I would keep her at home and have your friends not bring pets to your house for the duration of her pregnancy. Although trauma can cause miscarriage, the pups are quite well protected by fluid etc around them and it is likely she was more startled than hurt if she is otherwise behaving normally now. Monitor very closely for any signs of discharge, bleeding or ongoing pain and discomfort and keep her well rested overnight. Unfortunately, if she is going to lose the pregnancy there is very little that can be done to alter this process other than rest and monitoring

I wouldn't push the exercise (no dog parks, running with you for mile, too long chasing balls) but I would let her do light activity as much as she wants. She can run. Personally I do not think you need to cage her or chain her up. She will slow down close to delivery on her own. I hope this helps!

I would wait until after she delivers the puppies before attempting to trim her nails again. She may require a sedative or anti-anxiety medication to help calm her down. Congrats on Snowy's pregnancy! I don't think it's likely to cause any harm to the pregnancy. As long as she doesn't sustain any serious trauma along the way! Even the stress of a vet visit with a very nervous mama dog will not harm the puppies in a normal pregnancy. Take her for a walk before hand so she is a little more tired than normal and make sure to bring treats along so she can at least have some positive reinforcement. Best of luck!

Pregnancy always carries a certain risk of complications and in a growing puppy they are more at risk of getting low blood sugar, or low blood calcium. These can both cause serious problems and be life-threatening in certain circumstances. This could also cause some orthopedic problems in Wrigley. My best recommendation would be to have Wrigley spayed to prevent a possible pregnancy. There are also other ways for a vet to terminate a pregnancy if you don't want her spayed, but don't want to risk the pregnancy. If you are interested in having her carry the puppies (assuming she did get pregnant) to term, then I highly recommend you consult a veterinarian to implement measures to prevent some of the complications I mentioned above.
