What plants are poisonous to dogs? Are daffodils and lilies safe?

Hostas are toxic to dogs and may cause vomiting, diarrhea and/or lethargy of ingested in sufficient quantities. Daylilies are not toxic, but you must be sure they aren't true Lilies which are extremely toxic to dogs. To be safe, restrict access to areas where these plants grow.

The ASPCA Poison Control Website is the best guide for toxic and non-toxic plants. When I filtered for non-toxic plants for dogs, there is a list of 587 plants. Lilies are not toxic to dogs although they can cause stomach upset. All parts of the lily plant are quite toxic to cats and cause kidney failure, but dogs seem to be resistant. If Zoey vomits or develops diarrhea you should see your veterinarian.

Some types of lillies can be very toxic to cats and some lillies are mildly toxic to dogs and cats. Peace lillies are considered toxic plants, but it is because they have crystals of calcium oxalate that can irritate the mouth and GI tract. So, it is possible that Gus could have drooling or irritation of his mouth. That depends on what type of root tubers Maya is eating. Many types of flower bulbs are toxic to dogs. Identify what species of plant she is eating so that you can find out if there is a potential toxin exposure.
