Is it normal for my male dog to lift his leg like he's peeing to poop?

Pet's info: Dog | Rhodesian Ridgeback | Male | neutered | 3 years and 11 months old | 65 lbs

ok so this may be weird but I am a little bit concerned, My male dog likes to poop with his back leg raised as if he were peeing. is this normal?

That's a good question. Abnormal postures when pooping can indicate an injury, or deformity in the pelvic canal. It can also indicate a problem with a knee, leg, or hip. If he is otherwise normal, then this is not likely something to be concerned about, but can be mentioned to your vet the next time he goes in for an exam; or good to discuss with your vet if he happens to have any other issues with the legs or hips.
