Why does my male dog squat to pee and struggle with housebreaking?

This is not really a problem. Many male dogs squat to urinate especially if there are no objects around for them to urinate on. I am not sure you can correct this behavior but the best way would be to take him to areas where other male dogs have urinated. This may provoke him to want to "mark his territory" on top of that other dog's urine.

He is expected to have the same lifespan as it he lifted his leg while urinating. There is no reason or benefit to train him to lift his leg while urinating. Some male dogs just do not lift their legs to urinate. There is no need to be concerned about this. Have a great day!

Hello. This may or may not be a problem. You do not indicate his age, but if he is a young dog, this may just be behavioral. If he is older , he may have an enlarged prostrate gland, even with him being neutered. And, at any age, there is always the possibility of a urinary tract infection. That's a good question. Abnormal postures when pooping can indicate an injury, or deformity in the pelvic canal. It can also indicate a problem with a knee, leg, or hip. If he is otherwise normal, then this is not likely something to be concerned about, but can be mentioned to your vet the next time he goes in for an exam; or good to discuss with your vet if he happens to have any other issues with the legs or hips. Yes, you sure try the turf product. Works well for many people. If he already had a UTI at such a young age I would be worried it has recurred or it was never completely resolved (not sure how long ago it was). There could also be a different underlying medical issue. If the turf does not help you should have him back to the vet for a follow-up. Well Chyco is super cute! I would encouraged to have him neutered as soon as your vet will let you. This is usually around 5 month old. If he is too young right now the best thing you can do is to tell him no when you catch him in the act and redirect him to his spot outside that you want him to pee. If he is using pee pads these may not work for him since he likes to lift his leg. Also, make sure you are thoroughly cleaning and deodorizing the areas he does clean so he doesn’t have the urge to continue to go in those areas. I hope this helps!

Dogs will sometimes shake when squatting to potty. It has to due with all the weight placed on his hips and hindlegs. It can be normal, but to be safe, I would recommend having Bruno checked out by his vet to make sure he doesn't have any problems with his hips and hindlimbs, such as hip dysplasia, which is unfortunately common in large breed dogs.
