Is Lisinopril safe for my senior dog with protein in urine & high BP?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Scottish Terrier | Female | spayed | 12 years and 3 months old | 36 lbs

Hello, My white Scottie Terrier is almost 13 years old. She is spilling Protein in her urine and has high BP. Is Lisinopril 0.25 or 0.5 OK for her to take? Once a day or twice a day? Thank you so much!

Hello. Lisinopril is indicated for proteinuria in dogs, but I can not just tell you to give this to her. I do not know her overall health & this can make a tremendous difference when giving medications. Please talk to your veterinarian to see if Lisinopril is warranted to treat Roxy, & what the correct dose would be. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
