My Labrabull is in heat. Should I breed her with a Lab or Pitbull?

Hello. I am not sure why you want to breed more mixed breed puppies when there are so many available in shelters. The only reason to breed a dog is to improve the breed, not add to the overpopulation problem. Please think about this before allowing your mixed breed dog to become pregnant. There is no way we can tell you if she will have purebred labrador puppies or not. If you only want purebreds then you will have to have this pregnancy terminated by your vet with a mis-mating injection and then you will need to try again on her next heat cycle. She is a bit young to be breeding anyway. Dogs should be 18-24 months old before breeding.

For chocolate labs you need to find a male that is a carrier to throw that gene. The best luck is a dog that came from chocolate parents. Your dog will need that color gene also to pass on half the DNA. Generally you will get a mixed color litter. If you find a make that has already bred before, knowing what those puppies turned out like can help decide which colors they carry

If she is a healthy dog, she should be fine. You can have her examined by your veterinarian. A vaginal swab can be examined in the clinic for the presence of sperm. There is a canine equivalent of the "morning after" pill for accidental matings. Your vet can dispense a 5 day course of a hormone pill to prevent pregnancy.

Yes a black lab can breed with a Shih Tzu but the problem is that the lab is so much bigger than your dog, meaning the puppies will be large. This leads to an increased risk of dystocia (difficulty giving birth) and likely an emergency c-section. There is nothing you can do about the owner of the lab unfortunately. I would have your dog spayed after she has her puppies so you don't have to worry about any unplanned matings in the future. Best of luck.

It's not recommended to mate a dog on their first heat because they aren't physically and emotionally mature, but they can be fine giving birth. Because a male border collie is around Morti's weight, it's fine she was impregnated by one. If you don't want any further puppies, I recommend spaying her after her puppies have weaned. If Bella is healthy , she can be bred in the 2 weeks after stopping bleeding. I would not breed her with a dog much bigger than herself. You can have a vet do vaginal cytology to determine when the time is right for introducing her to a male.
