My purebred Lab accidentally mated. Will her puppies be purebred?

If she is a healthy dog, she should be fine. You can have her examined by your veterinarian. A vaginal swab can be examined in the clinic for the presence of sperm. There is a canine equivalent of the "morning after" pill for accidental matings. Your vet can dispense a 5 day course of a hormone pill to prevent pregnancy.

Usually, people want to breed purebred dogs so they can get purebred puppies. It is not required to mate your dog, and if you don't wish to deal with pregnancy or having puppies, spaying Blacky is the better option. That said, she doesn't need to breed with a specific other breed in order to get pregnant -- any male dog that she mates with and that is intact is capable.

If another dog mated with Akira as well, there is certainly a chance that some or all of the puppies may be fathered by that dog rather than your male. There is no way to predict how many puppies (if any) will be mixed vs. how many will be purebred, since it's a matter of random chance when more than one male has mated with her. So I'm afraid you won't know until the puppies are born.

Unfortunately we cannot tell if a pet is 100% anything without a DNA test. Also a pet this young is impossible to tell what breed it is. I would recommend having the pet grow up a bit and then have him tested when he is about 4-6 months of age. You can go to any vet of your choosing, although it may require you to drive a bit to get to if there isn't one that isn't affiliated with the breeder in your area. It sounds a bit ridiculous that your vet isn't willing to do a simple DNA test though, so I would look into getting another vet if this is the case. Yes, this can affect Hazel having all GSD puppies. Because female dogs release multiple eggs when in heat, if they mate with multiple males, there is the possibly that the puppies will have different fathers. Since she had mated with another male, it’s likely her puppies won’t all be GSD. I hope this helps.

It would not be recommended to breed a labrador (or any large/giant breed) before 15-18months of age as they are not mature and it is possible their growth and development would be permanently stunted. They also tend to be poor mothers as they are not behaviorally ready either

Seven is old to have puppies, but hopefully she will be ok. After she weans her puppies, I would have her spayed to prevent her from having anymore puppies. Dogs over the age of six should never be bred. I hope this helps.
