How do I identify my young dog's breed when I don't know it?

The puppy is very young so it would be hard to tell. It's possible it could be a mixed breed with some sort of collie in it from the coloration, however many breeds have that same coloration so it would be impossible to know. If you know the mother or father, you can determine breed better by that. There are also saliva DNA tests that can be used to determine the breed of a dog. Most veterinary clinics and even some pet stores will carry these and are very simple to use if you are very curious.

Since it is so young and I can't really look at its feet for size reference, it is a little difficult to distinguish Ghost from a from different breeds. These include Husky, Samoyed, Alaskan Malamute, American Eskimo, or any mix of the breeds. Hope this helps clear up anything you were wondering around. If you really want to be sure, you can do a DNA test on your through one of several different companies. This will give you precise genetic information on Ghost.

What a cutie!!!! This is strictly as guess as visual identification has been proven to be 75% inaccurate but if I had to guess, he looks like there is hound and possibly Cattle Dog. Its highly unlikely however that he is a 50/50 mix. I bet there are several breeds present within his ancestry! There are many canine genetic companies out there and some are better than others. You will need to check however that they have a canine genetic database from the country where he is coming from as genetic signatures do vary based upon location or origin. Beautiful Sharon! The head shape, nose and ears are definitively German Shepard but the tip of the nose should be black in all colors. Hi there. I'm afraid it's not possible to tell what breed a puppy is just by looking at a photo, as coat color and length, general body shape, etc. often change a great deal as puppies grow. From what I can see, he looks like a medium-to-large breed of some sort. Possibly some kind of retriever mix, but that's just a guess. If you don't have any information about his parents, your best bet would be to have a DNA test such as a Wisdom panel done. This would give you more information about what breed (or mix of breeds) he is, which would allow you to make a more educated guess about his adult size and weight.
