Help me identify my dog's breed: Malamute-Husky or long hair Husky?

Hello, thank you for your question about Apollo. Male dogs tend to be larger in size and often have a heavier build then female dogs of the same breed. There is some variation in the fur of huskies, and it also possible that the long fur you are seeing could still be Apollo's "puppy coat". However, it is also possible that he may be part malamute as these dogs are usually larger and have a different fur than huskies. If you are interested in knowing exactly what breed Apollo is. There is a canine DNA test, the wisdom panel, that can be performed to get more information. This test is performed by getting a swab from inside the dogs mouth. I believe these tests can be bought online or through some veterinary offices. Hope this helps, good luck!

I think this may be a repetition of a previous question.. He looks similar to a shepherd dog, but it is difficult to determine that as he is very young. In 5-6 months would be easier to determine the breed. Its a little hard to gauge, as theres not a great deal of size reference here. Typically, huskys are a bit smaller and more "lean." It may help if you let us know her weight and age; under her pets info there is no age but it says she's 30 pounds, not sure thats accurate. Hello, and thank you for using PetCoach. In my opinion, Sharon looks like an Alaskan Malamute - she is a bit larger and has longer fur than the typical Siberian Husky. If you want more concrete scientific information, the best (and only) way to determine breed is with genetic testing, such as the Wisdom Panel. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sharon is beautiful! I agree he looks like mostly husky but not pure bred. I would think he could have white German Shepherd or Spitz if his tail curls. Sadly we may never know and everyone likely has a different opinion! I hope this helps!

He is beautiful. If I had to guess, I'd say a husky/Keeshond or Norwegian Elkhound cross. Those beautiful blue eyes come from the husky, and that black mask with the grey, black tipped coat reminds me of the Keeshond or elkhound.
