Can you help me identify my dog's breed? Is it a pure German Shepherd?

Max looks to be a German Shepherd but if there is a small amount of a different breed (like a single great grandparent), if may be difficult to detect by looks alone with so much German Shepherd genetics present. He does not have the straight back of most working lines, nor is he quite as angulated as most show lines. His breeder would be the best source of information as to the different bloodlines present and if there was a mixing of show lines and working lines. He has the more rare long coat for the breed. From the photos he appears to be black and tan with the normal saddle markings. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I think this may be a repetition of a previous question.. He looks similar to a shepherd dog, but it is difficult to determine that as he is very young. In 5-6 months would be easier to determine the breed. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sharon is beautiful! I agree he looks like mostly husky but not pure bred. I would think he could have white German Shepherd or Spitz if his tail curls. Sadly we may never know and everyone likely has a different opinion! I hope this helps!

Spring certainly looks like he could be a purebred German Shepherd. He's a very handsome boy! If his breeder did not have any paperwork to prove that he is purebred, then the only way to find out for sure would be to have a DNA test done. This can be done from a cheek swab, or from a blood sample taken by your vet. Looks can be deceiving but these photos do look like purebred dogs. It’s hard to say if they are working or show lines. I recommend to call the breeder as they are most familiar with their bloodlines. You can also contact the breed club as they likely have excellent resources. She looks big! From her head shape, I would think there is some Great Dane in her. I can't tell you for sure if she may be full Great Dane or a mix, but her paws, head shape, short coat, and coloring and very similar to a Great Dane.
