How can I tell if my new puppy is a Chihuahua Shih Tzu crossbreed?

Your puppy does look like it could be a chihuahua, but it's absolutely impossible for me to say if it is purebred or not just by looking at a picture. As you mentioned, it’s a bit of a guessing game to determine the dogs breed based on pictures alone. However, Chappie, Candle, and Jimmy look most like Chihuahua mixes to me. There are DNA tests available, such as Wisdom panels, but nothing is 100% accurate. Regardless, they’re adorable!

These look more like a Shih Tzu than a dachshund. It’s awfully early to be able to tell for sure. They don’t look as long bodied as a dachshund and the thicker coat and rounder snout look more like a Shih Tzu. They are adorable regardless. You can always get a DNA test done. What a cutie pie! A shorkie is certainly a possibility, as would be a cross with a maltese (morkie), a chihuahua (chorkie) or really any smaller breed dog. Or she could potentially be a chichuahua cross as they can have this color pattern as well. If you truly want to know her breed makeup you can do a genetic test. Romeo is a cutie!!! Certainly I believe those breeds could be present. There are ways available now to find out what breeds are found in his background. The product I recommend is the Wisdom Panel.
