How to identify my dog's breed? Are DNA tests the best option?

It's really impossible to tell from a picture alone. It looks like this must be a picture of Sharon as a puppy (since you list his weight as 58lbs, but the pictured dog is much closer to 10lbs). I would guess some combination of terrier, collie, and "other". I would recommend using a DNA test to get a better idea. Embark and Wisdom Panel are two options. As you mentioned, it’s a bit of a guessing game to determine the dogs breed based on pictures alone. However, Chappie, Candle, and Jimmy look most like Chihuahua mixes to me. There are DNA tests available, such as Wisdom panels, but nothing is 100% accurate. Regardless, they’re adorable!

Hi and thank you for your question on PetCoach! From the pictures (cute by the way), I would say Eli may be a Bichon Frise or Bichon Frise mix. You can find out exactly what Eli is through genetic testing. It is a little expensive but is interesting and that way you can know for sure. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Jack is super cute! You can probably ask 10 vets and you'll get 10 different answers. He isn't a pure bred dog and there are likely many breeds that contributed to how Jack looks. He likely has Chow (though his tongue isn't pigmented) or Samoyed to get that type of tail. The rest is likely a retriever or shepherd mix. For fun you can do DNA test, they aren't very accurate but it might be entertaining at least. Hi there. Of course, breed guessing is really just that, guessing. However based on the coloring and the ears I think he has some Shepherd in him. However, he also appears pretty small so maybe he is mixed with a smaller breed as well. He is definitely cute. What a cutie!!!! This is strictly as guess as visual identification has been proven to be 75% inaccurate but if I had to guess, he looks like there is hound and possibly Cattle Dog. Its highly unlikely however that he is a 50/50 mix. I bet there are several breeds present within his ancestry! There are many canine genetic companies out there and some are better than others. You will need to check however that they have a canine genetic database from the country where he is coming from as genetic signatures do vary based upon location or origin. Whatever he is, he is adorable. My best guess would be spaniel and possibly pomeranian. If you're really curious, there are DNA tests available to determine genetically what breeds your dog is, but honestly to me it wouldn't matter. He's beautiful, looks healthy and happy and that's all that really matters. I hope you and Prince have a wonderful life together.
