My dog is housetrained. Will she have accidents at a new house?

Dogs can be situational learners and just because they are housebroken in one situation does not mean they will be housebroken in all situations. I recommend to treat Hazel as if she was a puppy again until she learns that the new apartment is her home. That means take her out frequently and use a crate and leash in the house. Hi there. Adding a new puppy to the household can be stressful for your current dog, so it's common to see housetraining relapses and other issues pop up when this happens. Just to "back to basics" with Poli for now, to remind her where to potty - take her out frequently, praise and reward when she goes to the bathroom outside, and supervise her or keep her crated when you can't watch her in the house. Once she's been accident free for a couple of weeks, you can gradually start relaxing your supervision again and let things get back to normal.

At this point o would not be too worried about no bowel movement as long as she is eating, drinking and behaving normally. she may have a few accidents as she works on becoming acclimated to her new home but remain consistent and use positive reinforcement and she should adjust quickly.

The accidents could just be secondary to change in environment and stress. You could keep them in crates while you aren't home and then monitor them closely while you are home. Keep them in the same room as you and don't let them roam your house without supervision. Take them outside frequently and give them praise and treats when they go to the bathroom outside. If you are still having problems in a week or so then they may not have been fully house trained.

Some dogs house break easier than others. Small male dogs can be the hardest to house break. I would recommend to continue treating them as if they are little puppies. Its still important to eliminate the potential to have accidents in the house. Until you are sure they will not longer potty in the house, continue the focus on housebreaking.

Yes, it is possible for puppies to be house trained at this age. However, keep in mind that some puppies will experience set backs in their house training and have more accidents when their normal routine and environment are changed. Accidents will happen with any dog from time to time, and there is no surefire way of being positive that a dog is fully housetrained until they come home. I would take the approach of hoping that their claim is true, but be prepared that you may have some work to do. Good luck! :-)

I believe the accidents are associated with the stress from the move. I would suggest trying some of the following techniques; I am very sorry that you are experiencing these issues with your dogs.
