Why does my Great Dane puppy have a droopy eye and white flecks?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can see that the iris is partially blue at the bottom. I can't tell if that means she has a partially blue and brown eye (some breeds can have this normally) or there is something wrong with the eye. Since she is 8 weeks old and likely heading to the Vet soon for vaccines have the confirm that the blue color is a normal variation of her iris color. The white structure in the corner of her eye is normal, it is the 3rd eyelid membrane. I hope this helps and I wish you and Athena the best!

From the photo it appears your dog has a conformation abnormality of the lower eyelid called ectropion which makes the kid sag down/look droopy. I believe you are seeing the dogs third eyelid being exposed and also irritated due to this. In some cases we need to prescribe medication to help the area be less irritated and sometimes surgery is used to correct the area. This is less concerning than non stop panting, which could be a sign of lung disease (or severe anxiety). I would recommend a vet exam ASAP due to the panting and they can look at the eyes at this time as well.

Cataract is very rare at this age, it could be a reaction to the first vaccine (blue eye), this usually resolves without treatment within a few weeks, steroid eye drops can help as well. a picture would be very helpful.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Spatsie! From your pictures, the affected area is either with in the anterior chamber or the corneal surface of the eye. It is not the lens so it is likely not nuclear sclerosis or a cataract. With glaucoma the eye is very red, enlarged, and painful. From your picture the sclera (white part of the eye) doens't apear red. Glaucomoa is diagnosed based on measuring the intra-ocular pressure of the eye with a tonopen or other device. My worry is that the white substance is white blood cells (hypopyon) with in the anterior chamber (which can lead to glaucoma). Corneal ulcers, corneal abscesses, uveitis, and systemic illnesses commonly cause hypopyon. The other possibility is a severe corneal ulcer. Spatsie needs to have his eye examined by a Veterinarian. It appears that there is a severe corneal ulcer on the left eye but hard to say for sure for the right eye. The ulcer appears to be a melting ulcer, which is quite severe. These eyes need the care of an eye specialist and further treatment. Many times, drops alone won't be enough to treat the eye. I would consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.

You might have Lola checked out by a vet. She may have painful or impacted anal glands causing her to act this way after having a bowel movement. She should also get checked out for intestinal parasites. I can't say that the eyelid drooping is a sign of any disease. If you can get a picture of it, feel free to post it here or share it with your vet. Sometimes dogs (especially Chihuahuas) will squint their eyes a little during pain, stress, or anxiety.
