Can I give my German Shepherd cat food if my cats won't eat it?

You can feed small amounts of any meat as a treat if you like - chicken, beef, turkey, etc. are all fine. But this should not be your dog's entire diet, because it isn't balanced. He should be eating a good quality dog food as his main source of calories.

As German Shepherd dogs are very prone to having food sensitivities and also are prone to exocrine pancreas insufficiency you should not feed him any food that is not dogfood, ie human food, treats, etc. The best is to feed specific puppy food for German Shepherd Dogs such as Royal Canin Maxi Puppy Dry Dog Food Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy Dry Dog Food or similar specific complete puppy foods for large dogs. When this happens, they tend not to eat as often. This breed does not need to eat every meal or even everyday. They usually only eat more when they are working. So if you have a GSD that isn't working (police dog, herding, agility, etc) then he probably won't need to eat as often. Dogs can go long periods of time without eating a meal, unlike humans. As long as Arjun isn't vomiting, having diarrhea, lethargic, or losing weight, I wouldn't worry. Continue to offer his usual food and limit treats to once-twice daily (because they contain more fat than dog food). Kisses to Arjun!

Yes , It looks like a good quality puppy food so should be good. Bear in mind it is important that your dog switch dog food gradually from his current dog food to avoid digestive upset or tummy trouble. To transition, mix your dog's current food with his new food. Over 5-7 days, gradually decrease the amount of the current dog food while increasing the amount of new dog food.

Mac can have a handful of boiled chicken a couple of times a week as a treat. Boiled chicken on it's own is not a healthy or balanced diet for a puppy, and he needs a puppy formulated food to meet his nutritional requirements for growth. I recommend feeding him Royal Canin. When you do give him the boiled chicken as a treat, make sure it's white meat and there are no bones in it. I hope this helps :-)

I think your veterinarian has a point. You must not feed your dog human food as it will keep him from eating proper dog food. Please feed your GSD only good quality dog food. Do not give your dog raw eggs, only boiled eggs and only as a treat once in a while. Do not give him curd rice, as this does not have the proper nutrition for a dog. Please feed your dog proper dog food.
