What meat is okay for my German Shepherd to eat as a treat safely?

Mac can have a handful of boiled chicken a couple of times a week as a treat. Boiled chicken on it's own is not a healthy or balanced diet for a puppy, and he needs a puppy formulated food to meet his nutritional requirements for growth. I recommend feeding him Royal Canin. When you do give him the boiled chicken as a treat, make sure it's white meat and there are no bones in it. I hope this helps :-)

Honestly the best thing you can do is feed him a complete healthy balanced already prepared dry diet that contains the right amount of protein. Yes, that's fine. Most dogs tolerate beef well. If she vomits after eating it, or diarrhea is noted within three days, then she may not tolerate it well. This can happen either due to it being too rich, or a food allergy (not that common). This does have a fair amount of calories though, so I always reccomend you account for these types of treats by feeding a little less of their dog food. As German Shepherd dogs are very prone to having food sensitivities and also are prone to exocrine pancreas insufficiency you should not feed him any food that is not dogfood, ie human food, treats, etc. The best is to feed specific puppy food for German Shepherd Dogs such as Royal Canin Maxi Puppy Dry Dog Food Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy Dry Dog Food or similar specific complete puppy foods for large dogs. As for quantities and how often to feed your puppy, , stick to the instructions on the bag as quantities depend on ingredients, weight of puppy and age. I would feed my puppy 3-4 times daily.

While cooked, boiled chicken and beef is OK to give as a treat, it should not be your dog's main source of food. It is much better to feed a balanced diet or commercial dog food that is nutritionally balanced to provide the right nutrition. Feeding only meat is not enough for your dog to stay healthy and growth healthy. You can add in a little piece of boiled meat with the fat trimmed off, however it should not be given as a meal as it can cause digestive upset and nutritional problems.
